Sakura Densha offers a taste of Japan beyond the bullet train, looking at the majority 3ft 6” gauge network of the country with stock representing trains from across the length and breadth of time and location from the 1950’s until the present day.

The layout is a physical representation of his own experience since first becoming interested in the railways and that set him on a journey into the culture and history of Japan itself and features references to this in fun and serious forms such as Studio Ghibli’s Totoro can be seen as well as more traditional aspects such as the shrine and paddy fields.
